Package and brand design proposal for L'Artisan Parfumeur.
D&AD Student Awards 2013 Entry. The brief was to interpret a series of fragrances that are based on emotions. 'Bottled emotions'. I was to create a bottle design and come up with a name for the following: (given name in bold)
I wanted them to be different and unique as much as what they represent differ from each other but also, I was thinking of triptychs and how somehow they all line up and belong in the same group.
A. Passion and desire. Sex and lust. Raw and physical.
"Overture" — A glimpse is all it takes to unleash carnal desires. What goes on in the imagination, triggered by an impression is more potent than what actually goes on in reality. Inspired by Bernini's 'Ecstasy of St. Teresa' and high-slits being blown by the wind.
B. Perfect, sublime love. An interior emotion.
"Ardent" — Unwavering. Symmetry, purity. Stillness. Inspired by the delicacy, 'perfection' of Faberge eggs, purified.
C. Excitement and fear. Adrenaline, exhilaration and thrill.
"Tempest" — Lurking in the shadows, a billowing force awaits. I was imagining an almost molten form, making reverberating sound. Tornadoes, thunder, tar.,
D. Elegant and dignified. Stormy yet still.
"Nocturne" — A stately form pierces through the stormy night. Inspired by vaulted ceilings and gothic architecture.
